Update on the house
The kids are all doing well. They know nothing about what is going on as I do not want to upset them. They have had so much turmoil in their lives already. I have to believe this will turn out for the good. There have been some amazing people donate. I am so grateful to them.
I got confirmation today that the bank has my paperwork asking for this loan to be redone. I did not get a feeling of positive or negative. In the mean time first default papers have been filed.
Anything you can do to help so that when the bank makes up their minds I will have some of the back money. Through the foundation we have enough to go on from here. This is a one time thing to make sure this house keeps going and stays stable.

News Update
I have lowered the amount needed because I am sad to say the second house has been turned down to be restructered because of the time lag in the house being up and running. It has to be sold. Thank you Lord but it is not the house with the kids. Please anything you can do to help would be a blessing.

Changing Lives One Child At A Time
Getting lives back on track, one child at a time.
Kids of this world need all of the love and protection they can be given. Foster kids need even more. They need love and stablity to grow up and make a contribution to society as a whole.
Recent television dramas have depicted the hard life of a foster child. Even though these shows are fictional the reality for foster children is often very grim.
I have long wanted to do something for this next generation. When my real estate business was going well I bought two houses to become homes for foster children. I then interviewed and found two wonderful couples that are willing to take on the challenge of giving these kids a loving home.
We now have five foster children living in one of the houses and the second house is almost ready to bring stability to the lives of even more children.
We have been working with a foundation that subsidizes each foster child with monthly payments. This money covers house payments, utilities, clothing, food, and association fees. What hadn't been accounted for was the time lag before getting the subsidy payments as well as how much investment it takes to get ready for the kids. Some of the kids came to us with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

Changing Lives One Child At A Time
We ran out of money at the end of the summer. We have been running on prayers and credit for the last three months.
I have given all that I personally have, and in fact all that I can borrow, just to get us this far.
The good news is that the utility bills are paid, the kids have food to eat and they have enough clothes for right now. We would not have made it this far if not for the love offerings that have been generously donated.
The bad news is that the house payments are four months behind as of November 15th 2007
We need your help.
We are almost to the point where we are self sustaining. But first we need to cover the investments needed to reach this point. To cover the over due mortgage payments we need to raise nearly $50,000.
Grand Gate House has a monthly mortgage of $4,716.31 which means we need to raise $18,865.24 before the houshold becomes self sustaining at the end of 2007.
Patrick Thomas House has a monthly mortgage of $5,024.71 which means we need to raise $25,123.55 to get us through the end of the year. With the pending goverment approval this house should be self substaining in early 2008
If you are ready to help use the Chip-in button at the top of the page to share with us what you can.
Any amount you think you can share with us will help.
Please take a moment to meet the family groups we have brought together.
Grand Gate House hosts two sets of reunited siblings, a husband, and wife team and their adopted son.

Changing Lives One Child At A Time
Lester and Sharon know exactly what these kids need. They have been trained to know what signs they should be looking for if the kids are depressed or have problems. The kids are lucky to have them and I have the peace of mind of knowing that the kids are given the love and support they need. The kids are also learning about volunteering as Sharon goes and sings to the elderly on the weekends. They also attend church as a family. Lester and Sharon have raised foster children before, Bobby who is their adopted son was a foster before he became their son. Lester and Sharon have been successful with foster kids. Bobby is a great example. On some evenings you can find Sharon and the girls in the bedroom doing pedicures and nails. The girls enjoy this time with a strong mother figure. Lester is a great role model. He helps everyone with their homework and helps keep them on task. He takes the time to share with the boys his wisdom. They do the yard work together, The girls and boys are learning to cook. These kids will be well prepared to take their place as well adjusted members of society.
With two adults and six teenagers Grand Gate is more like Grand Central Station.
Lester and Sharon balance all the household tasks, the children's school work, and still make time to demonstrate for the kids the importance of service and giving back for the blessings they have received. The kids share their blessing by singing to the elderly on the weekend and attending church as a family.
While not a currently a foster child 16 year old Bobby also lives in the house. He is Lester and Sharon's adopted son and is a great example of how foster children can grow and flourish given the right care. The other children look to Bobby because he understands what they are going through.
Perla is 15 years old. She has experienced many horrors already in her short time here on earth. Up until a few months ago she was living in a car with her two siblings, her mother and her mother's boyfriend. She does not miss living in the car, but she still misses her mother. She is finally coming to terms with the fact that nothing that has happened to her is her fault. She is currently in therapy for some of the horrors she has endured.
Jose is 16 years old and, like all teenagers, wants to be liked and valued. After he and his siblings missed a year of school he did not want to go back for fear that he could not catch up. Since joining the household he has not only caught up, Jose is doing so well in his classes that he is also playing on the JV football team. We are all so proud of his accomplishments.
Felix is 14 and a very loving child. He enjoys putting together model cars and has settled right into his new life. He adores Lester and is doing so well over all you would not know he has not always lived in this household. He has made a ton of friends and is the hugger and kisser of the house.

Changing Lives One Child At A Time
Taylor is 14 and has never before lived outside of Child Haven(the state run cottages) Her first exposure to a loving or stable family has been here with us (where she has both!). In spite of health issues she is adjusting to being in a family setting. In fact, Perla has taken it upon herself to fix Taylor's hair and teaching her how to dress.
Nick is 12 and has been in and out of foster homes. He and Taylor had never lived together before even though they are brother and sister. Since joining the house Nick has made great strides in dealing with his anger management problems. Through Lester he is able to experience life with a strong role model and together they break Nick out of his black moods. Like all the kids Nick is doing well in school where the older boys look out for him.
Patrick Thomas house does not have any foster children yet, but we are expecting them, any day. Minnie and Gary and their daughter Tatiana have the house all ready to go.
Just as Sharon and Lester did, Gary and Minnie have completed the classes, fingerprinting, CPR training, and background checks required by the state. We are currently waiting on the state for the final walk through and approval, of this house as our second foster home. With the approval, will come children. With the lessons learned from our first house the finances in this house we intend this household to be self sustaining about three months after the first children arrive.

Please give what you can.
Monetary gifts of all sizes help. Use the "Chip-in" button at the top of the page to share with these kids.
For example:
$5 = school supplies for one child.
$25 = a home cooked meal for the household.
$500 = monthly utility payments for one household.
$5000 = monthly mortgage payment for one household.
Any amount will be a great blessing
We recognize that not everyone can give money. We also need to get the word out about the work we are doing here. You can help by telling friends, family, and associates. Tell as many people as you feel comfortable telling one, ten, or ten thousand.
Now I have introduced you to the wonderful children and their lives, I will keep you updated on their progress and the blessings they receive from your generous hearts.
